What to Expect
Juneau shoreside salmon fishing charters are offered June-September and cost $135 per person for three and a half hours of catching fun!*
If you are an independent group, your day will begin at the base of the Mount Roberts Tram. There our guides will be picking you up in our van and drive you to our gear shack at 2571 Channel Drive. If you are traveling with Princess Cruises, we will pick you up at the designated spot as directed by Princess, holding a sign that says "Juneau Shoreside Fishing 560." Everyone must check-in at the office and pick-up a $25 Alaska fishing license if they do not have one already, CASH ONLY. As a licensed vendor, we can provide you with an Alaska fishing license at our office. Please note that there is no ATM at our location. Once everyone is checked-in, we will outfit you with everything you need for your fishing adventure, including rod, reel, and rain gear (rain tops, rain bottoms, and rainboots).
Our first stop will be to the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery to take a tour and learn about the lifecycle of Alaska Salmon. The Macaulay tour is one of the highlights of our trip, including touch tanks that allow kids and parents alike to have close encounters with Juneau's marine life. After the tour, we will walk down to the dock and fish right at the mouth of the river. Our guides will provide training on how to reel, cast, and set a hook. Then it is up to you to land a gorgeous, Alaska salmon! You have two options. Either you can catch and release or get your fish professionally cleaned, packed, and shipped home through one of our local processing partners. Feel free to ask our guides for their favorite salmon recipes on the van ride back to downtown Juneau!
*This price does not include a $25 Alaska fishing license, which you will need to purchase for everyone in your group who is 16 or older and does not have one already. We are licensed to sell Alaska fishing licenses at our office. We accept CASH ONLY.
Fun for the Whole Family
Our charter is made for making family memories! Shoreside fishing is low-impact and a great opportunity for children (7 years old and up) and all ages to catch their first Alaska fish. The training we provide is for all experience levels.
Unlike boat charters, we offer hands-on, shoreside salmon fishing. No more getting seasick in a boat, waiting for your number to be called to retrieve a fish that was caught without you! We also intentionally keep our charter short and sweet, long enough to catch salmon, but short enough to allow time to explore all of the other things to do and see in Juneau during your time here.
What to Bring
We provide you with your Alaska fishing license and all of the fishing gear you need to reel in the catch of the day, including Shakespeare Ugly Stick fishing poles, high-quality, spinning Pflueger reels, 35 lb test line, and Mepps lures. We suggest you wear a stocking cap or cotton hoodie and dress in layers. The temperature can vary over the course of the day and it is nice to have the option to add or drop clothes as needed. We also recommend you and your party bring your own pairs of sunglasses if desired.
