What to Expect

Juneau shoreside salmon fishing charters are offered June-September and cost $189.99 per person for three and a half hours of catching fun!*

If you are an independent group, your day will begin at the base of the Goldbelt Tram. There, our guides will be picking you up in our Chum Fun van and drive you to our gear shack at 2571 Channel Drive. 3 miles south of downtown Juneau. Once everyone's *license is entered into the logbook, we will get you outfitted with everything you need for your fishing adventure, including rod, spin reel, and rain gear (rain tops, rain bottoms, and rainboots).

*Please purchase your license at https://store.adfg.alaska.gov/ and make sure to bring it with you to fish!

*Any 16 years or older needs a fishing license

Our first stop will be to the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery to take a tour and learn about the lifecycle of Alaska Salmon. The Macaulay tour is one of the highlights of our trip, including touch tanks that allow kids and parents alike to have close encounters with Juneau's marine life. After the tour, we will walk down to the dock and fish right in the Gastineau Channel. Our guides will provide training on how to reel, cast, and set a hook. Then it is up to you to land a gorgeous, Alaska salmon! You have two options. Either you can catch and release or get your fish professionally cleaned, packed, and shipped home through one of our local processing partners. Feel free to ask our guides for their favorite salmon recipes on the van ride back to downtown Juneau!

Fun for the Whole Family

Our charter is made for making family memories! Shoreside fishing is low-impact and a great opportunity for children (7 years old and up) and all ages to catch their first Alaska fish. The training we provide is for all experience levels.

Unlike boat charters, we offer hands-on, shoreside salmon fishing. No more getting seasick in a boat, waiting for your number to be called to retrieve a fish that was caught without you! We also intentionally keep our charter short and sweet, long enough to catch salmon, but short enough to allow time to explore all of the other things to do and see in Juneau during your time here.

What to Bring

We provide you with all the fishing gear and rain gear you need to reel in the catch of the day, including Shakespeare Ugly Stick fishing poles, high-quality, spinning Pflueger reels, 35lb test line, and Mepps lures. We suggest you wear a stocking cap or cotton hoodie and dress in layers. The temperature can vary over the course of the day and it is nice to have the option to add or drop clothes as needed. We also recommend you and your party bring your own pairs of sunglasses if desired.
